Editing Photos: To edit with Hue and Saturation in Photoshop
Research:
I really enjoy these photos because they incorporate vibrant colors changes due to hue and saturation.

My 20 Photos:
These photos were taken on two separate days. I had never met my model prior to our photography session. We walked around the school campus to find interesting places and poses. On the first two images he was playing around in the water, unaware that I was taking the photo in fact that was my favorite picture of them all because the foreground was very interesting with the puddles of water.

My 4 Edited:
During Photoshop my main goal was to experiment with hue and saturation. Three out of the four photos are the same photo that I edited differently. My main goal was to get a more color intense photo which is represented in the third image. The second and fourth image are edited almost the same, however in the fourth image I had left a portion in the upper right hand corner unedited which created symmetry compared to the second image.

s5 Step Critique:
1.) Observe-
2.)Describe- This photograph is a 8.5 inch by 11 inch digital print on a lustre paper with a black frame of a boy squatting on a tennis court playing with a puddle of water. The photo was taken low and adjacent to the ground. The tennis court fills the lower half of the image and little puddles of water are covering it. Squatting near a puddle closer to the camera is a boy in all black drawing lines in the puddle. In the background are tall naked trees and mountains. Just above the mountains is a white sky. The hue of the image is red with a little of purple and the saturation was turned down leaving the hue very subtle.
3.)Analyze- One element of design being used in the photo would be value. Value is occurring based off the quality of the light on the tennis court and with the mountains and the sky. It is being used on the tennis court to help differentiate the puddles with the tennis court and with the sky and mountains to help create the light and dark contrast. One principal of design incorporated in the photo would be contrast. The main area that uses contrast would be the dark mountains with the white sky. With this contrast the value is more clear. Another element of design used is space. With the tennis court filling up half of the image and the boy using just a portion of the tennis court this creates space. The other half of the photo is super busy with tress and mountains which creates variety. Variety is one principal of design incorporated into the photo because all the shapes, sizes and colors are completely different in the background. The space in the foreground created and emphasized variety.
4.)Interpret- The mood of the photo I was trying to give the viewer was fun, rainy day mood. With the hue being red and purple the photo comes across as almost another dimension. The red is mostly noticed in the boy's hair and in the trees, it's a very subtle difference. There is also a pink tint for the boys skin.
5.)Evaluate- The image was very successful because it give the viewer fun, rainy day mood with the subtle red hue difference hidden in the trees and the color of the boy's skin. The image could use improvement by editing the image to where the lines are more crisp and clear. In the upper right hand corner the big tree seems to not be in focus.
